We drew inspiration from the legendary GP1, a benchmark road tyre of the 1980s.
By combining this historic lineage with modern engineering, we have created a tyre perfectly adapted to the needs of today’s cyclists, regardless of their experience level, seeking an optimal balance between road holding and longevity.

The Advantage of Dual-Compound Technology
What clearly sets the GP Explorer apart is its technology. Drawing on technical insights gained from Hutchinson’s performance road range, this tyre features a dual-compound tread, a technical approach rarely seen in this category.
- Optimised efficiency: the dual-compound construction allows for reduced rolling resistance while providing improved comfort.
- Grip and safety: this design is a key factor in ensuring dependable grip.
This differentiator sets the GP Explorer above many tyres in this category that rely on a single rubber compound.
Unmatched Versatility
Road cycling is evolving toward wider tyres for increased comfort. To meet these trends, the GP Explorer is available in 26, 28, 30, and 32 mm widths. As mentioned previously, using wider sections enables riders to benefit from improved comfort and reduced rolling resistance across various surfaces.
The design is also characterised by:
- An expanded tread area: it maximises contact with the road to enhance traction and cornering stability, whether riding in urban environments or on open country roads.
- Wear indicator: to ensure your safety and help you monitor your tyre’s life, the GP Explorer includes a wear indicator directly integrated into the rubber.
Two versions for every riding style
We have developed two distinct versions of the GP Explorer to meet the needs of every cyclist:
- Folding Bead: Featuring a 66 TPI casing for a more supple and dynamic ride. It is available with classic black or tan sidewalls across all sizes.
- Wire Bead: A robust option built around a 33 TPI casing , available in black in 26 and 28 mm widths.
