The big moment has finally arrived! The Tour de France peloton is rolling out, and for three weeks, we will live and breathe the exploits of the world’s greatest riders. Here at Hutchinson, this race has a special meaning. As a technical partner and frontline supporter, we are proud to equip and stand behind the Intermarché-Wanty team. Get ready to experience an exceptional adventure with us !
Our riders from the Intermarché-Wanty team are approaching this edition with solid performances this season. We have notably celebrated the German Champion title of Georg Zimmermann, a rider with an offensive temperament whom we will be keen to follow in the breakaways. Another talent to watch closely is Louis Barré. With exceptional performances since the beginning of the year, he has distinguished himself by finishing 6th in the Amstel Gold Race and 3rd in Paris-Camembert. Our leader, Biniam Girmay, has also shown his growing power with several podiums, proving that his speed will be a formidable asset. The team’s strategy is confirmed by Performance Manager, Aike Visbeek, who summarizes their ambitions:
This quest for performance is a shared mission. The development of our new Blackbird Race tyre, handmade in France, is the perfect illustration. It is the result of an intense collaboration between our engineers and the team’s experts. Guillaume Trouvain, Head of R&D at Hutchinson, speaks to this powerful synergy:
Last year, we experienced a historic moment. By winning a stage, Biniam Girmay became the first Black African rider to put his name on the Tour de France prize list. Even more, he brought back to Paris the prestigious Green Jersey, a first for an African rider. This exceptional performance rewards the most consistent rider in the sprints, and Biniam conquered it with immense talent.
This year, the route is 100% French and promises a total spectacle over more than 3,300 km. From the plains of the North to the Breton coasts with the ascent of Mûr-de-Bretagne, the race will then head for mythical summits like Hautacam, Superbagnères, and the formidable Mont Ventoux. Faced with this monumental challenge, the team’s strategy is clear: hunt for stage victories through a two-pronged approach of supporting Biniam Girmay in the sprints and giving freedom to attackers on difficult stages.
Here at Hutchinson, we were born from competition. Taking on the most extreme technical challenges to contribute to the advancement of cycling is in our DNA. For the next three weeks, join us in supporting the team. Feel the excitement, cheer them on, and celebrate with us!
